Youth in Action has now given
special attention to the needs of young women who are involved in
prostitution just because they have no any other means of earning a
living. These young women are not educated or have skills to allow them
get jobs. Some of them are
orphans - they really have no one to take care of them, which is why they
are getting into this risky business. We want to help them have better
life.
We have therefore started a
new project to help the girls who are involved in prostitution. We have
registered 84 of them.
We are helping these girls lead normal lives by offering vocational training and putting
them in groups of five and helping them start income-generating
activities.
We are training them in
Tailoring, embroidery, making batiks & tie-die. We also offer
training in poultry keeping.
We decided to help these girls
because they are at high risk of becoming victims of HIV/AIDS, because the
lives they live can directly lead to the infection.
We are providing
vocational training to young people who dropped out of school at early
ages. We provide counseling in many areas of life. In addition to
discussing HIV/AIDS and reproductive issues, we provide advice
regarding social and cultural issues. We ran a school for mentally
handicapped children, but had to stop due to lack of funds.
